Meet the Team Behind Performing Arts Vision Care

Abigayle (Abi) – Co-Founder, Dispensing Optician & Backstage Specialist
Abi’s roots are in acting and drama, but these days she prefers to work behind the scenes—directing, supporting productions, or helping out backstage as her schedule allows. Her experience as a stage manager gives her a true insider’s perspective on the pressures and unique visual demands of performing arts. As the 2024 Eye Care Awards Dispensing Optician of the Year, Abi combines creative insight with technical expertise in every client interaction. She’s also the driving force behind PAVC’s cutting-edge technology, including VR gaze analysis and saccadic eye tracking, ensuring our solutions are as innovative as the performers we serve. Alongside her optical work, Abi is a qualified ear wax removal technician, adding another string to her bow.

Elizabeth – Specialist Optometrist, Musician & Singer
Elizabeth brings over 15 years’ experience in optometry and nearly two decades in optics to the PAVC team. A lifelong musician—she’s played piano and clarinet since childhood—Elizabeth understands the real-world challenges performers face. She was runner up in the Eyecare Awards Optometrist of the Year 2023, a recognition of her clinical excellence and dedication to patient care. Her attention to detail and warm, approachable manner help clients feel at ease, whether they’re in for a routine assessment or a complex custom fitting. Outside work, Liz is devoted to her family and enjoys singing, especially as part of her local church community.

Tracy
Reception
Clinic Support
Tracy is the oil in the machine—helping everyone stay on track and making sure the clinic runs smoothly. She’s dedicated to making every client’s journey seamless, from first contact to final fitting, and her cheerful, efficient approach puts everyone at ease. Tracy’s commitment to excellence and understanding of the unique pressures performers face make her an invaluable part of the team. Away from the clinic, Tracy enjoys walking and loves exploring the beautiful rolling hills of the moors that surround the practice. She’s also a passionate supporter of both PAVC and the Meltham community, devoting her free time to local cohesion projects.

Xanthe
Administrator
Marketing
Xanthe looks after all things admin and marketing at PAVC, keeping everything running behind the scenes. She’s known for her spreadsheet wizardry and her ability to keep everything under control—no detail escapes her notice. Xanthe’s work adds another layer of depth to our services, ensuring our clients and team are always supported. When she’s not at work, Xanthe is a devoted “pooch mum” to her fur baby, Mabel.

Sheryl
Co-Founder
Specialist Optician
Although one of PAVC’s founders, Sheryl is now taking more of a back seat in day-to-day operations. With a background as both a musician and optician, Sheryl helped shape the vision and ethos of the practice from the start, ensuring performers’ needs are always front and centre. While she’s stepped back a bit, her passion for supporting artists and her wealth of experience continue to guide the team. Sheryl now works closely with performing arts institutions, shining a spotlight on visual health in music education and advocating for the importance of specialist vision care in the arts.
